Top three concerts ever. Go.

I'll go first.

3. DMB, not the last concert, the one before that.

2. Bela Fleck and the Flectones, Massey Hall

1.Radiohead, back in 2000 or 2001 in Barrie at the big amphitheatre there.

TAKE THAT!

3. The Red Hot Chili Peppers August 16th 2000. First time seeing them... completely awesome.

2. The Tragically Hip back in 03 at the ampitheater.

1. Our Lady Peace at the Air CanadaCenter. It was a free concert sponsored by best buy. So it was the best money i ever spent. Not to mention it was a reallllly awesome show.

Okay...

* Emerson, Lake and Palmer (Wonderland in London, Ont.), spring 1973... made me want to stop pretending I played piano.

* David Bowie - Michigan Palace, Detroit (1978?), during his 'thin white duke' days - stunning theatricality, red hot back up band.

* Jim Smith Band at Smiling Buddha (last weekend) featuring Lanai and Mike... I'm not kidding, it was shockingly good (shockingly... not surpringly). Sophisticated, great grooves, connection between band and audience, newer songs sounding every bit as good and tight as the older songs. Blown away!

3. 1998: Alanis Morisette at the Air Canada Centre - I think this was my first concert ever.

2. 2001: Incubus at Copps - my head full of dreads and lots of singing. Oh yes.

1. toss up between BNL and Teitur/Tina Dico - BNL for entertainment and showmanship, T and T for songs, and intimate venue.

I'll give you a double whammy...

Top 3 SHOWS...
3. Cirque du Soleil, Dralion. The music was exciting, thrilling, and it went with the theatrical/visual elements as if it were being produced by them. I bought the soundtrack.
2. "da kink in my hair" moved me really deeply- it was a theatrical experience but the variety in the music was what was so exciting- everything from tribal rhythms to beat poetry. An amazing experience.
1. Rent, Toronto 2002. I don't think any show that I've seen has touched me like Rent did. An honest, gutsy delivery of the realism inherent in it.. and man, Adam Pascal can really sing. I got his autograph!!!

Best 3 CONCERTS...
3. DMB in June tied with John Mayer in November in London tied with John Mayer in the summer with Maroon 5. All of them were musically satisfying and creative. Mayer rocks at putting on a good show, not just singing and playing.
2. This is really hard to decide. I go to so many concerts here at the Faculty that maybe I just have to say that listening to the percussion ensemble or the symphony orchestra with a good soloist or the numerous guest artists has been fulfilling.
1. Renee Fleming with TSO, this November... it was really something to finally see one of my idols live and singing the things i'd only ever heard on recording. An experience!

I am preemptively going to say that seeing the Blue Man Group is going to change my perception of live music forever.

Top 3 DMB shows, or top 3 shows??

hehehhee....

tell you what, I'll do my top 3 NON- DMB shows..

3) Sigur Ros, live at Massey Hall, October 30th, 2002.

This was a really cool, amazing beautiful show.

2) David Gray, live at the Warehouse (before it was 'kool haus'), April 24, 2001.

Amazing amazing time. David Gray is so great...I was front row for this, and it was such a phenominal experience. Incredible show.

1) TIE!!
- Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, live at Club 77, April 20th, 2004.
- Robert Randolph and the Family Band, live at the Opera House, February 19th, 2004.

Both shows were too ridiculously amazing NOT to come in first place. Front row center for RR, front row-ish, center-ish for BFFT...met the band after both shows, both bands were phenominal and blew me the hell away. Both shows left me completly floored.

And, if you wanna see my top 3 DMB shows....get ready for ties galore.
